Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. May it be kept holy by our mediator, Jesus of Nazareth, as we present our thanks and petitions to You. We ask Him to sanctify our words so they ascend to You as a chaste, wafting fragrance. May coals from Your heavenly altar purify our lips so that our words are pleasing to You.

Lord and Father, we thank You for the knowledge we have gained so far about thresholds. We ask You to open our minds through Your Spirit—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of knowledge and of reverential fear of Your name and Your presence.

Lord and Father, we ask for a fountain of insight to flow over us so that we can increasingly realise the influence of thresholds in our lives. We ask You to empower our wills so that, under the direction of Your Holy Spirit, we can say ‘yes’ and ‘yes’ and ‘yes’ again, and ‘yes and amen’ to Jesus whenever He asks to remove the stumbling blocks situated on the thresholds within our lives.

Father, we thank You that Jesus showed us how to approach thresholds in our lives—especially the spiritual ones where You want to conceive and bring to birth Your purposes in us. You created us in Him for good works that You prepared in advance for us to do; You appointed a destiny for us and You placed a calling deep within us to summon us into that destiny. We know that there are dangers on the threshold but we barely comprehend the extent of them. So, by faith, we place our hands in the hand of Jesus and we walk with Him. We ask Your Holy Spirit to attune our hearts to His rhythm and to adjust our ears to hear His voice and recognise only Him. In all the din and clamour of life, may it penetrate so clearly we can listen to even His quietest whispers and obey His directions as He tells us where next to step.

Father, we ask for Your kiss. We ask You to dress us in Your armour through that kiss and to point out to us those parts of the kit that don’t fit as they should. Repair our armour and help us to hand over to You any pieces needing to be mended in Your workshop. Where we’ve substituted our own weaponry for Yours, let us know that we’ve abandoned Your divine armour. Help us discern real from stand-in; send Your Paraclete, our battle companion and champion, to give each of us a unique strategy so that we can pass over the threshold into our calling.

Father, we honour Jesus as our covenant defender; and we thank You for the holy angels You send to guard our thresholds. May Your name be ever glorified as You bring us into our callings. Amen.

This is Grace Drops and I’m Anne Hamilton. May the Lord of Heaven’s Armies kiss you today.
